WebMay 27, 2010 · The rod bearing clearance is .0015" pretty much across the board. From what I've read, the spread should be from .0007" to .0028" which puts me in the center. The crank has just been re-polished to 60 microns and is .010 on all rod journals, when I run a mic over them it doesn't seem there is any taper.... Anyone had a similar problem? An easy way to look at this is, if your main journal is 2 inchs, then a .002 clearance works, If rod journals is 1.5 inches then a .0015 works. Trying to clearance for any cam position on the rods would give similar results to clearancing valve to piston at any cam timing, there would be nothing left of either the rod or piston.
